No outside tools are needed for the replacement process.

              Pinion Gear               
  • Unscrew by turning the cap counter-clockwise until it is separated from the spinning reel.

  • Remove the spool line completely by pulling it away from the reel body.

Step 3

  • Remove the gear by pulling it up and off of the pinion.
  • Replace the pinion gear with your new one by aligning the shape of the gear opening and the pinion.

  • Place the spool back onto the pinion.
  • Ensure that the spool is fitted properly.

  • Place the spool release and drag adjustment piece back onto the top of the pinion.

  • Screw the spool release and drag adjustment back into place in a clockwise direction until desired tension is achieved.
