Repairing Kenwood KDC-X590 Blank Faceplate Resistors
- Sorry for not including a complete tear down but I have no other images of this work.
- Due to temperature changes in the car the solder will crack on this model and possibly others close to it causing the faceplate to no longer display. After unscrewing the housing and removing the cd unit locate the 10 surface mount resistors marked r27 shown in red.
- Using a small tip soldering iron reflow the solder on each edge of the resistor. You should not need to add any extra but in my case I did for a few.
- After all 20 contacts have been reflowed to the 10 resistors reattach the cd drive and case.
- Enjoy your display like it was new again!

quick note: most of these connect to eachother via the PCB, so the close together ones can be soldered directly together for ease. I succeeded in fixing my stereo’s faceplate!
