  • Turn off the breaker to the bathroom light in your home’s circuit panel.
  • If the fuse is not labelled, you can turn the bathroom fan on and turn off fuses until the bathroom fan is turned off. Be sure to turn off the bathroom fan before starting the fix even though the fuse may be turned off.

  • Carefully remove the grill cover on the unit by grasping the outer edges and pulling downward, toward the floor.

  • Pinch the mounting wires toward each other and pull downward. Do this on both sides.
  • Dust accumulation should be expected. You may want to wear a mask and eye protection to avoid falling dust.

  • Unplug the unit. Using a circuit tester, confirm that there is no power running through the fan’s circuit.

  • Remove the entire fan housing assembly from the ceiling.
  • Be careful that the outer edge of the assembly does not make contact with the drywall as not to damage it.
  • Do not touch the ceiling with hands to avoid leaving fingerprints.
