Introduction

Important 1 -> make sure that you SAVE your valued presets to a memory card, or sysex export via midi, BEFORE changing the battery!

Important 2 -> remove power cord before removing the top case.

What you need:

  • A screw driverA new battery: CR2032Some good light

Good to also have: A pen with some tape on the top to hold the battery in place + compressed air to cleanup the unit inside while it’s open

Step 1

              Open the unit
    1. Disconnect electricity
    1. To remove the top case, remove screws on the back, and on the sides.
    1. Then carefully and slowly lift the top case and put it aside.

Step 2

              Find the battery
  • You vill find the battery right under the EXP-board, next to the outputs.
  • There is no need to remove the EXP-board.

Step 3

              Change battery
  • Note: If you have a pen with a small bit tape on the tip you can hold the battery in place when released. Otherwise it might “jump” when released and it can be hard to find in the unit.
  • Using a pen/plastic tool just hit the little metall clip on the battery holder, that keep the battery in place. This will release the battery from the holder.
  • Then insert your new battery. You can hold the battery in place with your pen, with a little bit of tape on the top.
  • Have a look inside that everything looks ok.
  • Remove all old dust using compressed air. You want a clean JV-1080.

Note: If you have a pen with a small bit tape on the tip you can hold the battery in place when released. Otherwise it might “jump” when released and it can be hard to find in the unit.

Have a look inside that everything looks ok.

Remove all old dust using compressed air. You want a clean JV-1080.

Step 4

              Put on the top case
  • Put on the top case and fasten all screws on back and sides.
  • Connect the electricity and power upp the unit. You will see that all user programs are gone. Copy them back from your card och via a MIDI Sysex dump.
  • Congrats, you now have a new battery and a clean JV-1080 that will serve you great synth sounds for many years, good work!
