Introduction
It can be a hassle to stand up to change the channel or increase the TV volume every time and if your remote isn’t functioning you might have to do that. One of the most common problems is when one of the buttons stops working.
Before starting this repair, test the remote to make sure that it had working batteries as this might be the cause of the problem. If your batteries are good, then this guide could be for you.
In order to safely do this repair, remove the batteries from the back of the device before you begin.
What you need

Keypad
- Remove the batteries before you disassemble the remote.
- Use an opening pick in the seam of the controller and work it around the perimeter.
- With the opening pick, scrape and remove the glue and undo the clips holding the top and bottom of the remote together.

- Use additional opening picks to keep the seam open.
- Don’t use a screwdriver or metal spudger for prying especially because the motherboard is directly underneath and could be damaged in the process.
- Use a spudger or opening pick to work your way around the seam of the remote.
- Separate the two sides of the remote.

Step 3
- Remove the motherboard, the plastic button case, and finally the buttons from the plastic case.
- Place the new keypad into the keypad holder and press to make sure it’s set in securely.

- After replacing the rubber keypad, reassemble the remote.
- Make sure to insert the light in the small hole during reassembly.

- When joining the two halves of the remote together line the spring up with the appropriate slot.
- Carefully, press the two parts of the remote together.

- Make sure the remote is working after you put it back together and replaced the batteries.
