What you need

Step 1

              Get up the back
  • First heat up the back of the device with a heat gun or, if available, a heat plate.
  • Then position the suction handle on the lower half of the device and begin to pull up, while trying to insert a plastic pick between the midframe and the back plate.
  • Once you’ve got your pick between the two parts, begin to work yourself around the device with some more picks.
  • Be careful around the camera bump and the mid of the device, because of the exposed battery there.

Step 2

Separate the midframe from the display-logicboard-assembly
  • Start by loosening the 16 Phillips #00-headed screws in the midframe, 7 on the top half, the remaining 9 on the lower half.
  • Now try to get a plastic pick in between the colored midframe and the black plastic frame around the display. A opening tool might help you. I found it the easiest to start in the top right corner (where no camera bump is), but this might vary between devices.
  • Then work yourself around the device to unsnap the two frames from each other. Be careful around the sim card tray, the plastic frame is quite thin there. Also try not to go to far into the device to prevent damaging the internal components, especially the cameras.
  • Unplug the battery flex cable.

Unplug the battery flex cable.

Step 3

              Removing the charging port-board
  • Unplug the three flex cables connecting to the board, as well as the white antenna cable on the left.
  • Remove the on phillips-00-screw in the middle of the board with the charging port. Keep it separate from the frame screws because of different screw lengths.
  • Take out the board carefully.

Take out the board carefully.

Step 4

              Remove the main logic board
  • Unplug the interconnect flex cable, as well as the antenna cable on the bottom right.
  • Unplug the front facing camera on the top and take it out.
  • Unscrew the one black screw and lift the board carefully out.

Step 5

              Remove the other components.
  • Now you’ve got acces to basically anything in the device.
  • The battery is clued in place, it seems to be equipped with some pull tabs. (confirmation needed!)
  • The vibration motor is clued in place, as well as the ear piece and the fingerprint reader.

Now you’ve got acces to basically anything in the device.

The battery is clued in place, it seems to be equipped with some pull tabs. (confirmation needed!)

The vibration motor is clued in place, as well as the ear piece and the fingerprint reader.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
