What you need

              Display Glass               
  • Microwave the iOpener for 30 seconds.
  • Place the iOpener on each side of the screen for 30 seconds.

  • Take a metal spudger and wedge it between the screen and the glass.
  • Avoiding the screen itself, run the spudger along the perimeter of the device to weaken the glue between the glass and screen, and pry the glass off.

  • Using a suction cup, gently remove the screen from the device.
  • When placing a new screen on the device, remember that you will have to reapply adhesive to the outside of the screen.

This is not entirely correct. For the proper way to replaced this glass, you need to remove the back cover as well, in order to connect the digitizer flex cable to the board.

The following steps are completely missing:

  • remove the backcover with a pick or Spudger running between back cover and body.

  • flip up the lock for the flex cable with a spudger

  • slide the flex cable through the body and remove the display

  • slide the flex cable of a new display throught the body to the backside

  • connect the flex cable to the connector (be aware of correct aligning) and flip down the lock

  • glue the display back to the body (do not use much pressure as it may crack the new display!)

  • clip back on the back cover
