The laptop fails to respond and will not power up.
If the battery is dead, your charger may not be charging the device. Make sure your adapter is plugged in. If this does not work, unplug and re-plug the cable. Refer to the Device Won’t Charge portion of our troubleshooting page.
Reconnect charger to laptop. If laptop only operates when plugged to charger, the battery is dead or not holding a charge. If the battery is faulty, consider replacing it with this [http://placeholder|guide].
Audio from the laptop sounds bad or does not have audio at all.
Ensure headphones are fully plugged in. If audio is still unresponsive, unplug and re-plug headphones. Make sure to verify your volume to make sure it isn’t just turned down or off.
Your laptop may be outputting audio to something that may not have a speaker. You can check by searching for Sound Settings under the control panel. Clicking on Sound Settings will pull up a window. Under Playback, the system will list all the devices accepting audio. Select your desired output and experiment to see what works and what works for you.
Note: You may need to play audio to see what device is responding.
Some computers have built in software that allows you to adjust the settings of sound output known as Equalizer Settings. Search for the Loudness Equalizer option in Windows. This will raise the volume above the device’s default maximum for PCs with Realtek audio drivers. However, not all audio drivers will or can support equalization.
Video image is unsatisfactory (discolored, blurry, or distorted).
The screen resolution for the Samsung Odyssey is Full HD (1920 x 1080). Your laptop may be operating in an incorrect resolution. To resolve this, access Display Settings by right-clicking the desktop, selecting “Display Settings” towards the bottom, and double check that the “Resolution” tab displays 1920 x 1080.
Laptop becomes uncomfortably warm, or shuts off without notification.
Unplug and shutdown the laptop. Remove outer casing and then remove the battery. Carefully clean the can with a cotton swab or air blower.
Open the laptop and inspect the fan, if fan is visually damaged or will not spin, the fan will need to be replaced. You can find a guide to this [http://placeholder|here].
If none of these troubleshoots yield a cooler CPU, there is not much else to do. The Samsung Odyssey has a tendency of running a bit on the warm side. You may want to consider purchasing an external laptop fan or simply let the laptop cool down before resuming use.
Typing on physical keyboard yields undesired results on screen.
Substances, such as dust and liquid, can collect beneath the keys when typing, causing the keys to become harder to press or completely stuck. This may be resolved by simply cleaning your keys with a duster, compressed air, or (if you have it handy) key cleaning slime.
If cleaning the keyboard doesn’t resolve this, it may be a mechanical issue. Replacing damaged keys is the best solution in this case.
If a key is missing and causing discomfort during operation, you can replace the missing keys.
Although plugged in, device won’t charge or simply won’t charge from complete battery depletion.
If the charging port is damaged the easiest way to replace it would be to use our iFixit repair [http://placeholder|guide] to replace the damaged part.
If the plug fits into the device’s charging port, and the plugs all other plugs fit into one another, check the light commonly found on the AC/DC Converter (the block part of the chord) to see if it is on. If it is not, this may be a sign that you will need to purchase a new charger, as the one you are using is broken.
If the battery is faulty, the best option would be to remove and replace the battery. Find help with this guide [http://placeholder|here].
After start up, the screen remains black or is otherwise unusable while the laptop sounds like it is running.
Double check that the brightness is not at the lowest setting; you can increase the display brightness by simultaneously pressing the Function (Fn) and F3 (holding should bring the display full brightness).
If that is not the case, the laptop may be in a Presentation Mode. Press the Windows key and P key at the same time. Pressing it once more should return the laptop to its original setting. Note, that if the device does not detect another monitor input, the device should automatically return to using the original screen as the preferred outlet.
A cracked or otherwise damaged screen will require a screen replacement. Check out our [http://placeholder|guide] on replacing the screen.
Laptop takes an unusually long time to work through basic operations.
More often than not, unnecessary load is the cause for slow operation speeds. If this is the case, open Task Manager by pressing the control (CTRL), shift, and escape (ESC) keys simultaneously. Navigate to the “Startup” tab of the window. This will bring up all the apps that have update and startup procedures running every time you turn on your laptop. Disable the ones you don’t regularly use and you should see faster results upon restart.
Do not worry if certain clients fall behind on their updates; they will update the next time you open them while connected to the internet. If the problem persists after startup, you can refer to the next troubleshoot.
Simultaneously press control (CTRL), shift, and escape (ESC) keys. Go to task manager and see what tasks are taking up most of the CPU. Select these tasks and click “End Task” to discontinue these processes. If this does not help, you may want to start cleaning up space on your laptop by removing unused or unnecessary programs that may be running in the background.
