  • Note the position that the selector switch is in when the guitar has intermittent or no signal.

  • Remove the retaining nut that holds the pickup selector switch to the guitar.

  • Place the guitar face-down on a soft and clean surface.

  • If the guitar has active pickups, open the battery tray and remove the 9-volt battery.

  • Remove the large plastic backing plate.

  • Carefully pull the pickup selector switch out of the body of the guitar.

  • Switch the pickup selector switch to the side that does not work.
  • If neither side works, then repeat the next step on each side.

  • Insert the sandpaper into the switch and proceed to scuff the contacts. Be sure to flip the sandpaper and scuff each side of the contact.

  • Insert the switch back into the guitar, ensure that the switch is in the correct orientation.
