your ankle before you have both feet in the door? Not only can this be annoying but it can also

hurt! This a simple fast fix on how to replace your old screen door closer with a new one.

What you need

Step 1

              Door closer               
  • Make sure the door is completely closed. push up from the bottom to remove the pin from the bracket that connects the barrel to the door frame and release the door closer barrel.
  • If the pin is under too much tension, open the door about an inch and slide the open clip (metal washer that keeps the screen door open) against the barrel and repeat step 1.

  • After removing the pin, the closer barrel can be removed.

  • Loosen the screws from the bracket on the screen door to remove the bracket.

  • Loosen the screws from the door jamb bracket and remove.

  • Attach the new bracket to the door jamb with provided screws.

  • Slide the new clip (metal washer that was provided with the door closer) on the door closer barrel with the dented side facing inwards (as shown in photo).

Step 7

  • Insert the pin into the closer barrel and the jamb bracket.

  • Install new bracket onto screen door. Keep screws slightly loose.

  • Slip the other pin into the barrel and the bracket.

  • Slide the bracket away from the barrel until there is no slack. Tighten screws on the bracket.

Step 11

  • Test the door and if there are any issues (i.e. door closing too fast or too slow). Make necessary adjustments to the tension screw.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
