By default, file extensions are not displayed in Windows 10. For instance, the file mspaint.exe display as mspaint in File Explorer.
To view file extensions, follow the steps below.
Open a new File Explorer window by pressing Windows key+E (hold down the Windows key on your keyboard and press E).
Select the View tab.
Check the box labeled File name extensions.
