Disassembling SKIL 4235 Jigsaw Base plate
- Orient your saw so that the blade is pointing in the opposite direction of your body. Ensure that the screws circled are visible and pointing skyward. This will be the standard position of the Jigsaw for the duration of this guide.

- Using two hands grip both side of the saw and lay on side.

- With bottom of the base plate visible, identify one M4 screw circled in red and remove with Phillips screwdriver (some models have flathead screw, as pictured, and require flathead screwdriver).

- After removing M4 screw, remove the base plate and place to the side. Don’t forget to replace the M4 screw near the base plate during re-installation.

Protective Frame
- Ensure that the Jigsaw is properly placed and that the blade is away from your body with the screws facing upward.
- Identify the 10 screws circled for removal. Once all screws have been identified, use your Phillips screwdriver and begin removing them.

- Once all screws have been removed, remove the protective frame by gripping it from both sides and lifting it skyward.
- Be advised
- You may need to lift with one hand and hold the rest of the saw with the other.

- Now placing the frame off to the side you should have a clear view of all the internal working parts. Now we can begin making our repairs.

- Be advised:If this is the first time opening up your tool, expect it to be very dirty. It is recommended you use a shamy cloth or wet rag to keep your hands clean.
- At this point what lies in front of you should be a disassembled version of your SKIL 4235 Jigsaw.
- Caution: Make sure your device is unplugged.
