- Gently pull the screen away from the body of the speaker, revealing the tweeter and two mid-range drivers behind it.

According to Sonos the grille is NOT removable. Looks like the adhesive mentioned above is there for a purpose. Shame really.

I’ve had my sonos 3 outside for three years, under cover though. It started to sound awful a couple of weeks ago. I thought they would try to remove the grille, but according to Sonos there was no way to remove the grille, it was a fixed assembly.
But yesterday I put more effort into googling, and found this page. I understand that it sounded bad, there was dirt, dust and other debris in it when I finally got rid of the grille, now I just have to listen to it, because it was late yesterday and I have to pay attention to the neighbors, so I could not find out at such a low volume if it helped, but I think so. You saved me from going and buying one or two Sonos 1 play, as my son suggested. We will have to wait and see until the neighbors around have woken up. I have high hopes that it works, Thanks for a tip on the unopening Sonos 3, shame on the one who gives up (a Swedish
proverb).
Thanks
