Introduction

If the lens attachment is unable to affix to the camera or take photos, or the camera’s shutter door fails to operate consistently, there is a chance that the lens assembly needs to be repaired. Before beginning this process, it may be helpful to reference this troubleshooting page, which could help with addressing issues before having to go through the process of removing the lens assembly. The tool necessary to complete this replacement guide is a PH00 Phillips screwdriver. No special skills or technical degrees are required to understand this replacement guide.

What you need

  • Position the camera so that the lens and front “SONY” logo will be facing forward and upright.

  • Remove each of the four M1.5x4mm screws with a PH00 Phillips screwdriver.

Step 3

  • Lift the circular, metallic plate out of the base of the lens assembly, and set it aside.
