When you press the eject button, the disc player tray does not open.

The disc tray not opening can be caused by the device being on child lock. To see if this is the case, turn on the device then look on the front panel of the device and see whether the word “Locked” or “TLK On” is displayed. If so, press and hold the Pause or Stop button until the word “Unlocked” appears on the panel display.

The disc tray not opening can be caused by a DVD being inserted wrong. To fix this, turn off the device then unplug the power cord and wait for at least 30 seconds. After 30 seconds has passed, press and hold the eject button whilst at the same time plugging the power cord back in. When the disc tray opens, release the eject button and remove your disc.

When a disc is inserted, the movie won’t play.

The disc not playing could be caused by an incompatibility between the disc and the device. First try playing a different disc make sure the issue is with the disc and not the device.  If the issue is with the disc, ensure your Blu-Ray disc is compatible with the device by clicking here. If the issue still occurs, see solutions below.

A dirty or damaged disc can often be the cause of a disc not being able to play. If the disc is undamaged clean the disc using a soft and dry cloth, gently wipe the disc. Make sure to swipe from the middle of the disc, outwards. Using the same cloth, wipe the disk tray.

The lens in the Blu-ray player may be dirty causing it the device to not play the disc properly. Insert a lens cleaning disc and press play.

Your device settings may be causing the disc to not play.

  • Turn off parental control.Your TV may not be compatible with the device. You will know that this is true if you see a blank screen when the BD ROM 24P Output setting is turned on. To fix this you will need to go to the setting menu and turn the BD ROM 24P Output settings to off/Do not allow. Then delete BD-Live data from the BD/DVD viewing settings menu.

Your device may need a firmware update from the Sony website. If you are connected to the internet go to the setup menu and select the Network Update. If you do not have an internet connection, you can download the update from Sony’s website onto a USB storage device or a CD/DVD and transfer it to your Blu-ray player.

The Blu-ray player does not connect to the internet or the internet does not work properly.

A weak Wi-Fi signal could cause the device to not connect to the internet. To fix this, make sure that the router is close enough to both the device and your TV but at least 1 meter apart. Make sure to check your Wi-Fi connection ID and password are correct . If the issue continues to occur try restarting your router and modem. Unplug your internet router and modem then wait 30 seconds before plugging them back in.

Your device may need an Ethernet cable to connect to the internet. This can be done by connecting an Ethernet cable from your device, directly to your router.

The TV does not display anything with the HDMI connection when the device is turned on.

The TV may be on the wrong input settings. Go to the input menu on your TV and change the setting to HDMI if needed.

Check to make sure the HDMI cable is plugged in properly. Try a different HDMI cable if problems continue to see if the cable you are using is not working properly.

The Blu-ray player randomly freezes and does not respond.

Press and hold the power button till the device is completely turned off. Wait 30 seconds and then turn it back on. If the power button does not work, unplug the device, wait 30 seconds and then plug it back in.
