The white balance cannot be adjusted and the “W” lamp in the viewfinder stays on.
If the “L” light is still lit, it means the lighting is inadequate. Add lighting to the filming environment or change locations.
In the presence of neon lights or tunnel lights, the “W” lamp will remain on. A recording can still be made because the white balance is almost properly adjusted due to the position of the FILTER selector.
When the power button is pressed, the standby light does not turn on.
Insert a Betamax cassette. The camera will not power on if there is no cassette inserted. Insert a cassette with the tape viewing window on the right.
Cover the hole left by the safety tab with a piece of plastic tape or insert a cassette with a safety tab.
Eject the cassette and insert a new cassette with the round window facing to the right pressing firmly into place. Press the left side of the cassette compartment lid closed. Rewind the tape on a VCR or replace the cassette.
The auto-focus function does not work when the camera is in recording mode.
Set the FOCUS switch to AUTO. The FOCUS switch is located on the left side of the camera below the lens.
Clean the lens. If the lens cannot be cleaned, view our replacement guide for a lens replacement.
Make necessary lighting adjustments or choose a new filming environment. The autofocus won’t work correctly in shooting conditions with insufficient light or with subjects that are difficult to focus on.
When the record start/stop button is pressed, the tape will not run.
Eject the cassette and insert it again. The eject button will not work if the camera is off.
Rewind the tape on a VCR.
Replace with a new cassette. Eject the current cassette and insert a new cassette with the round window facing to the right. Push the left side of the cassette compartment down to close.
