What you need

Step 1

              Outer Case               
  • Open the battery compartment and remove the batteries.
  • Remove all of the visible screws on the outside of the case.
  • There should be three of them that are all easily located.

  • Open the memory card compartment.
  • Remove the screw next to the memory card slot.

  • Pull apart the front and back cover pieces carefully.
  • The front cover should come completely free with little effort.
  • The back cover will still be attached to the circuit board.

  • Simultaneously unclip all of the clips holding in the circuitry. Remove the back case.
  • The circuitry will still be connected to the back case by ribbon cables.

  • Open the case as shown.

  • Unclip the clip holding the ribbon cable in.
  • Other ribbon cables might not have a clips.

  • Pull the ribbon cable out.

              Lens               
  • Remove the two additional screws on the back of the lens.

  • Detach the ribbon cables and unplug the cable leading to the back of the motherboard.

  • Remove the motherboard and the flash from the rest of the hardware.

  • Remove the screw indicated in the picture to detach the lens and the viewfinder from the other hardware.

  • Remove the three screws shown to separate the lens from the viewfinder.

Step 13

  • Purchase a new viewfinder.
  • Repeat the previous steps in reverse order to rebuild.
