The camera does not respond to any input.

Batteries that have run out of charge or have met their max recharge cycle, needs to be replaced with two double A batteries.

Make sure the door is properly closed. Ensure that batteries are put in the port correctly. If problem persists, try this guide to replace the faulty door panel.

Dirty battery terminals may disrupt the connection made between the camera and its batteries, resulting in failure to power. To clean battery terminals use a Q-tip or other absorbent material to lightly brush the terminals.

If the motherboard has failed, an electrical short may have occurred due to water damage or failure in an individual component (resistor or capacitor), try this guide to identify potential short circuits and replacing the motherboard.

Lenses either do not extend or contract.

If there is loose debris stuck in between the bodies of the lens, slightly adjust/rotate the lenses (if it is stuck extended) to break loose debris free. Otherwise, look to this guide for a guide on repair & disassembly of the lens.

Occasionally if too large of a memory stick that the camera was not implicitly designed for is used, the camera may take additional time to turn on as it has to read the entire card for its contents before it fully powers on & extends the lenses. Consider using a small memory stick to reduce the camera’s set up time.

If damaged, the casing housing the lens may misalign resulting in failure to extend or retract fully/properly.

Camera flash is not activated when taking a picture.

Before continuing, begin by powering off the camera and powering on the camera again. Restarting the device is often the simplest solution.

If flash is not activated, it could be because the camera’s settings are not set to accomplish what you are looking for. Make sure that the camera’s settings are not set to “no flash” or “auto flash.” If camera is in auto flash, the camera will only use flash when deemed necessary. Consider changing settings to accommodate the surrounding conditions.

If none of the above options have offered a solution, the flash hardware is most likely faulty. Check here for disassembly/ repair.

Camera is not activating sound when device is powers on, takes photos, or records sound when taking videos.

Make sure that the camera isn’t muted or on the lowest volume setting.  Press the lower key of the dial to open the “Control Panel” to check the speaker setting.

If the camera is not on the lowest camera setting or the camera still doesn’t record sound, there might be hardware damage to the speaker which would require a full replacement.

Memory stick error message appearing or photos not saving to memory stick properly.

Make sure memory stick is inserted the correct way. Ensure that there is nothing lodged in the port to prevent the stick from being inserted.

Make sure memory stick storage is not full. If full, delete photos to make space. If not full, ensure memory stick is inserted correctly and settings are shown correctly.
